TOPEKA -- The Brownback/Colyer Transition Team announced today the addition of former House Speaker Tim Shallenburger and former Congressman Todd Tiahrt staffer Mark Dugan to its team.
"We are excited to be adding two very talented and experienced members to our team," Gov.-Elect Sam Brownback said.
Shallenburger will join the team on December 1st as Transition Legislative Liaison.
"Tim is well-known and respected by those he served with in the Kansas Legislature. He will play a vital role in making sure state legislators are informed about the transition and the important part they play in our success," Brownback said.
Currently President and CEO of American Bank in Baxter Springs, Shallenburger served in the Kansas Legislature from 1986 to 1998 before being elected State Treasurer in 1994.
"I am excited to be involved in an administration dedicated to improving our state by providing principled conservative leadership. I look forward to working with Kansas legislators - many who I served with while in office - to ensure their involvement and input in the transition," Shallenburger said.
A native of Wichita, Dugan will serve as the Lt. Gov.-Elect's Chief of Staff Designee.
"Sam and I are excited about Mark joining the team. Mark brings a broad base experience and energy to our Administration. Mark's talents will play a vital role in developing and passing legislation to put Kansans back to work," Lt. Gov.-Elect Colyer said.
Agreeing, Brownback said, "The Lieutenant Governor's office will play a particularly important role in this Administration. Mark will be a tremendous asset to our team."
Dugan earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Master's degree in Public Administration from Wichita State University. He previously worked for Congressman Tiahrt as senior legislative correspondent and political director.
"It is an honor to be asked to serve the people of Kansas. I look forward to working with Dr. Colyer and Gov.-Elect Brownback to implement the Road Map for Kansas that will get our state moving in the right direction," said Dugan.
