TOPEKA -- Helping Hands Humane Society (HHHS) will be at Brewster Place (1205 SW 29th Street, this Tuesday, November 30th at 2:00pm to celebrate the end of Adopt-A-Senior-Pet Month.
At the beginning of November, Brewster Place residents came to HHHS to adopt a senior pet. A heeler mix, Lucy, was chosen who now spends her days cheering up the residents. Lucy and her Brewster Place friends have spent the month of November collecting donations for HHHS and will present them to the shelter on Tuesday the 30th , the last day of Adopt-A-Senior Pet Month.
A senior pet comes with many rewards. They are fully grown and their personalities are developed. Older animals can still learn new tricks and, because of their experience, they can often teach us new things as well.
HHHS has been a permanent part of the Topeka community since its founding May 4, 1938. The organization is incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) business for the purpose of sheltering companion animals in need of care, advocating for anti-cruelty protection of animals and promoting humane education and animal welfare issues.
HHHS fosters the adoption of companion animals into responsible homes and reunites lost animals with their owners; promotes sterilization of animals to help reduce overpopulation; provides a facility accessible to the general public; serves the community with educational programs addressing animal welfare issues; and maintains a fiscally responsible organization.
