TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Better Business Bureau warns residents about a scam targeting senior citizens.

Seniors report getting a phone call claiming a medical alert device similar to "Life Alert", is being shipped free of charge.

Seniors who provide credit card information to "verify" their identity are then charged a $35 monthly service fee.

The company's name is unknown, and the calls appear to be made from temporary cell phones.

If you receive a call, report it to the BBB at 800-649-6814 or 877-637-3334.
