EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW)-Emporia sister-in-laws who have a love for sweets are going to be capturing time on the big screen!

Melissa Herring says she's always enjoyed decorating cupcakes for her friends and family as a hobby.

She and her sister-in-law, Rhiannon Torres, decided to turn that hobby into a business inside her home.

"And we grew a lot from that, and then just kind of expanded, we grew out of my house, it was too much," says Herring.

"Kinda snowballed. Now we are here," laughs Torres.

They own Mr. Sister Sweets in Emporia. The "M" stands for Melissa and the "R" stands for Rhiannon in "MR." Rhiannon bakes, while Melissa decorates.

And now their bakery is gaining attention on the big screen. A phone call from a national television show on the food network gave them a sweet surprise.

"I get this phone call, 'Rhiannon, Rhiannon, 'Cupcake Wars' called! we are going to be on t.v.!'"

"It's a big honor to be chosen for the show, there are thousands of people that apply every season," says Herring.

Customers say they can't eat enough of the treats and the girls deserve this more than anyone.

"It's huge for Emporia, you just never hear of things like that, you always see it on T.V., so its a big deal," says a regular customer.

The sister-in-laws say being recognized for doing what they love couldn't get any sweeter.

"It's exciting to get our town on the map," says Herring.

"Cupcake Wars" airs this Saturday, September 28th at 7 p.m. central time on the Food Network.
