Archer, Cook Sworn In As County Commissioners

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Two new Shawnee County Commissioners were sworn in Monday morning.

Former City Councilman Bob Archer and Kevin Cook took their oaths of office at the Shawnee County Courthouse.

Archer replaces Ted Ensley who did not seek reelection. Cook is replacing Mary Thomas who he defeated in the August primary.

Both Archer and Cook participated in their first count county commission meeting Monday morning where they voted Commissioner Shelly Buhler as commission chairwoman for the year.

Shawnee County Sheriff Herman Jones also took his oath of office Monday.

Cynthia Beck swore him in while his wife Carlene held the bible. His two sons, Philip and Daniel were also in attendance.
