The employee may be required to attend and assist with events and activities that take place outside of regular business hours. Write, edit and proof read quarterly alumni magazines, interfacing with other units on campus to secure content for each issue. Plan editorial content, gather information and artwork (photographs, graphics), establish and maintain bid/contracts with printer, plan theme strategies and meet deadlines. Coordinate and plan required details with magazine graphic designer and printer to insure publication meets all legal requirements. Work closely with graphic designer from first layout to final product proofing, correcting and approving final copy for print. Read and review daily online news clips to locate class notes and obituaries for inclusion in alumni publications. Design, write and edit brochures, invitations and promotional materials for other alumni association events and projects including but not limited to Homecoming,
Alumni Fellows, Wake Up with Washburn breakfast lecture series, Alumni Awards and After Hours. Work with University Mailing and Printing Services to ensure all completed projects meet legal requirements for bulk mailing and non-profit status. Update and maintain the Alumni Services website to ensure information is accurate and timely and represents Alumni Services and Washburn University in a favorable, attractive manner. Write media releases to publicize alumni association events, honors, etc.; assist in writing media releases for general University purposes as requested.
