TOPEKA -- Behind in the polls, and hearing plenty about spurning an offer of airtime to challenge Senator Sam Brownback on WIBW-TV and Radio, Senator Tom Holland is now scheduled for a six-minute interview with Ralph Hipp on "13 News at 4:00" next week.
The interview will be aired live at the start of the newscast next Wednesday, October 20th.
13 News received word of the interview request Wednesday afternoon from Campaign Director Seth Bundy, who confirmed the details with Hipp hours after the live debate had aired on 580 Radio and Channel 13.
Radio hosts made regular references to Holland's absence in today's debate, showing a shot of an empty chair and a disclaimed that he had turned down their request to appear. Holland's campaign team reported the candidate was doing a radio interview in Kansas City, and has called WIBW Radio's "On the Other Hand" a "right wing" radio program.
Ralph Hipp is also taping an interview with Republican candidate Sam Brownback, which will air the day after Holland's appearance on 13.
