AG's Office Offers Free Document Shredding

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas Attorney General's Office is sponsoring free document shredding events to mark Consumer Protection Week.

“One of the core missions of our office is to protect Kansas consumers,” Attorney General Derek Schmidt said. “During National Consumer Protection Week, we are making a special effort to educate consumers on ways they can protect themselves from scams and identity theft – including safe disposal of personal documents.”

The service will be offered at 11 locations around the state. It kicked off Monday in Salina and McPherson.

People may bring documents they would like destroyed to the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library from 8 to 9:30 am Wednesday. On Friday, from 10 to 11:30 am, they'll be at the Dillons on Sarber Lane in Manhattan and, from 1 to 2:30 pm at the Junction City Dillons.
