AAA Kansas Launches Tools For Senior Drivers

(WIBW) - Two-thirds of people age 65 and older take five or more daily medications that can affect driving ability.

Prescription and over-the-counter medications come with warnings about side effects, like drowsiness or risks related to driving, but many people ignore them, because they’ve never had a problem.

Jim Hanni of AAA Kansas appeared on 13 News at 4 to talk about "Roadwise Rx," a free online tool designed to allow people to record prescriptions and medications in one location.

Medications that can impair driving:
Tranquilizers, narcotic pain pills, sleep meds, cough meds, antihistamines, decongestants

Medical conditions that can impair driving:
Arthritis, diabetes, sleep apnea, vision problems, dementia
