Family Members of Topeka's 10th Homicide Victim Speak Out

What was called a suspicious death early Friday morning is now being investigated as Topeka's 10th Homicide of the year.

16 year old Michael Torneden's family says he would occasionally visit the Central Park home where he died. They say that he was happy and would never have touched a gun despite the fact that he knew how to use one.

Michael's sister Candace Torneden says here brother was just like any other teenager. He loved music and his guitar. She says he was a good and smart kid.

Neighbors who heard the gunshot say they think the incident was an accident.

Police continue to investigate the incident and ask anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers at 234-0007.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the new farm bill will cost taxpayers $955 billion over the next 10 years. About 80 percent of this money will go to nutrition assistance programs, such as food stamps, for the needy.
