Celebrating Life on September 22-23
(American Cancer Society Press Release)
Lyndon, KS — The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Osage County is Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Lyndon High School Track, 412 E. 6th St., Lyndon. This “celebration of life” brings the community together in a unified effort to fight cancer. Relay For Life starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 6 a.m. the following day.
More than 275 walkers making up 25 teams will participate in the
event. The survivors lap will kick-off the Relay at 6 p.m., with nearly 100
survivors registered to walk. The Luminaria Ceremony will begin at 8 p.m., an emotional ceremony honoring current cancer patients and memorializing those who have lost the fight to cancer.
Activities are planned throughout the night, including a silent auction, food booths, tent decorating contests, and other fun games for all ages.
Relay For Life is a fun-filled, overnight team effort to raise funds
for the American Cancer Society’s research, education, advocacy, and
patient service programs. Survivors and current cancer patients, their
families, businesses, civic organizations, and the public take part in this
exciting event. Teams of eight to 15 members gather with tents and sleeping bags to participate. Teams seek sponsorship prior to the Relay, all with the goal of supporting a cure for cancer.
