Kidsignments volunteers Michelle Boswell, left, and Cathy Seith use chairs as they shop for their children on Monday afternoon at the biannual consignment sale at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Volunteers and sellers were able to go shopping before the event officially opens today. The sale runs through Saturday and includes clothes, toys, games, strollers, shoes, furniture and lots of other items.
TOPEKA -- You'll locate lots of treasures under one roof Saturday at the 2nd annual Sale in the Park. TPD's Ambassadors volunteers are hosting the sale starting at 8:00am at the Crestview Shelter House, 4801 SW Shunga Drive (that's near 27th and Fairlawn.)
All proceeds from the sale, put on by the non-profit service organization affiliated with the Topeka Police Department, will be used to remodel and refurnish the Department's two soft interview rooms at the LEC.
Soft interview rooms are used by officers and detectives when they're dealing with sensitive situations involving young children or traumatized victims. Those small rooms provide the kids and teens with a private, less-threatening enviroment than is typically found in a standard police interview room. The soft rooms are showing the wear and tear of over fifteen years of use, and will be spruced up with new furnishings, wall treatments, and for the children's room, new toys, games and TV/DVD equipment.
Saturday's sale offers a huge variety of merchandise, from toys to collectibles to a full array of household items, at very affordable prices. Thanks for helping the Ambassadors and TPD!
