(from TPD) The Police Athletic League is currently accepting registrations for its 10th season of PAL Flag Football. PAL Flag Football is a program that allows boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12 to interact with each other and law enforcement officials in a structured environment and learn a team sport as well as information on drug and bullying prevention.
Games are played every Saturday morning from September 15 through October 20. Games will be held at Highland Park High School with a closing game on October 20 at Hummer Sports Park. In 2006, more than 225 children participated in the program.
Participation is open to all boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 12. There are two age groups in the program, 6 to 9 and 10 to 12 years of age. Registration forms can be picked up at the Topeka Police Department at 320 S. Kansas or any of the Topeka Recreation Centers and the Parks and Recreation Office. Applications are due by August 31 at 4 p.m. to the Topeka Police Department. Applications received after that date will be placed on a waiting list.
