Cisneros Going to Prison
Orlando Paul Cisneros was back in court today -- and now he's heading back to prison.
You'll remember he was convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl and sentenced to nearly 13-years in prison.
That sentence was suspended to three years probation by Judge Matthew Dowd, in a decision that caused quite a stir.
Judge Charles Andrews said Cisneros has had enough chances -- and determined he did in fact violate his probation by doing illegal drugs.
Now Cisneros is going to prison -- for his original sentence of nearly 13 years.
With original Judge Matthew Dowd recusing himself from the case -- Judge Charles Andrews quickly familiarized himself with the Cisneros case.
Now that cisneros is going to serve the time he was originally given -- the victim's family is relieved.
His probation officer testified that cisneros smoked marijuana May 25 -- the first day he received probation.
After a warning -- which the officer didn't have to give -- Cisneros smoked again July 4.
The judge didn't want to hear any talk about the media pressure on a man convicted of 17 counts of rape.
And he didn't want to see what Cisneros would do with a third chance.
Cisneros could earn a "good time credit" of up to 15 percent of his sentence.
He will be credited with time served -- and can appeal the decision within ten days.
A hearing on whether he should pay the victim's hospital bills was delayed, although Cisneros has already told the court he's bankrupt.
