Board of County Commissioners invited the public to come out and give their thoughts and opinions about the 2008 budget plan.

The meeting started at 5:30 p.m. and only lasted two minutes because no one showed up.

"I am pleased to now that for the last two years in a row we've had our public hearing and no one shown. I don't take it as apathy as much as i take it as some degree of conformation that we are watching the first strings as we should be," said County Commissioner, Vic Miller.

The only people that showed up for the annual open budget hearing were county commissioners and department heads.

With all the controversy over the 2008 Topeka city budget commissioners say open budget hearing are important for the public.

"It's a very critical part the budget hearing is that time when residents can come out and really voice their opinion," said County Commissioner, Shelly Buhler.

The final vote will come sometime in mid August.
