Combining City and County IT Departments Now Lies in City's Hands

The County Commissioner's voted Monday 3-0 to go with Sunguard for their Enterprise Resource Planning Software.

The Topeka City Council has been looking at another software company for the city Lawson Software for their Enterprise Resource Planning Software.

The Council even tried to talk Commissioner's into choosing Lawson.

Lawson would cost one million dollars more and the company was ranked last in the companies researched by the city's own consultant.

Earlier in July County Commissioner Vic Miller told 13 News that combining the two could save five million in taxpayer dollars in just the first five year.

But, now combining IT departments for the City of Topeka and Shawnee County will depend on what the City Council decides, and that decision should becoming soon.
