TOPEKA CIVIC THEATRE -- Carole Ries, the President & CEO of the Topeka Civic Theatre & Academy announced Wednesday that she will retire August 31, 2010. That's the final day of the theatre's fiscal year.
Ries spent the last ten and a half years at the helm of TCTA. Chairman of the Board, Scott Nellis, has appointed a Search and Transition Team to conduct a search for a new President & Chief Executive Officer.
Ries stated “I’m proud to have served TCTA over the past ten years and have particularly enjoyed working with such an incredible team of staff, board members and volunteers. I’ve had so many opportunities to learn and grow. When I first came here, I said I’d never seen a city that loves its theatre like Topeka loves TCTA. The support of our community leaders and businesses as co-producers and in every way possible, is unmatched in my experience. As I move on to whatever awaits me in retirement, I’m sure I will continue to stay connected to TCTA and the extended family it represents."
Marge Schepker, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees said, “We’re very happy for Carole. Retirement will afford Carole many wonderful opportunities that aren’t possible while being employed full-time. We’re very sad because we are losing a greatly respected leader in our community. She leaves very tough shoes to fill.” Shannon Reilly, Artistic Director of TCTA, says “The theatre is going to greatly miss Carole’s leadership and wishes her the best of luck in her retirement.”
Prior to coming to TCTA, Ries served 10 years as Executive Director for the Fort Lauderdale Children’s Theatre and 16 years as Administrative Director for Theatre Memphis.
