Jaryl Perkins was chairman of the board of the Topeka AIDS Project when he encountered a problem last fall. TAP's fundraising effort came up slightly short on cash. But a generous donation from an anonymous couple helped TAP make its goal.
There was one catch. Jaryl would have his head shaved live on WIBW.
Readily agreeing, he allowed 13's Ralph Hipp to shave his head to collect on the promise. (The couple wrote TAP a check for $500 dollars, to reach $1,100. Shaving Jaryl's head Tuesday is one of the most fun things we've done on the local talk show, and we've got it here on wibw.com.
(Post Script: Current Topeka AIDS Project Chair Marilynn Ault wrote Ralph after the program, saying Jaryl is not setting a precedent, and she is not planning on having Ralph shave her head next year!)
