Bond is set at $5,000 for each of two men arrested following a weekend standoff with police.
19-year old Taron Huggins and 18-year old Jermaine Brown appeared in court this morning on a charge of attempted auto theft. Huggins was also wanted on a warrant for theft and fleeing police.
Police say their arrests followed a standoff that started just before 6:30 pm Sunday night. A man told police he tried to pick up his daughter from SE 33rd and Massachusetts and two men tried to steal his car. Police say the suspects ran back inside, keeping the woman with them.
Police surrounded the area and the woman came out a few minutes later. Huggins came out and was taken into custody nearly an hour later, just before 7:30 pm and brown came out at 7:45 pm. Police say they continue investigating whether the woman was being held against her will.
Huggins has two other court cases pending. He was charged with aggravated robbery following a chase and crash in February that was sparked by a report of shots fired at West Ridge Mall. He also faces charges of reckless driving and fleeing police for a January incident.
