Even though nobody won last Saturday's Powerball lottery, one ticket sold in southeast Kansas is worth $1 million. The winning ticket holder matched the first five numbers, automatically winning $200,000.
But that's not all, for an extra buck, the player bought the Power Play option. Luckily then for the winner, the Power Play number came up five, quintupling the prize to $1 million.
This is the first time a million-dollar "Match 5" ticket has been sold in Kansas since the top Match 5 prize was raised to $200,000, which made a million dollar prize possible with a Power Play number of 5.
"We're thrilled that someone has finally won $1 million by playing Power Play," said Kansas Lottery Executive Director Ed Van Petten. "It's a good reminder to all Powerball players that purchasing Power play can really pay off - in this case, the player won an additional $800,000 by spending $1 to purchase Power Play."
The winning numbers for the June 2 drawing are: 02-22-32-36-47-36 PB: 36 Power Play: 05.
The Powerball Jackpot for Wednesday's drawing is $32 million, Hot Lottois worth an estimated $10.22 million, and Tuesday night's Super Kansas Cash jackpot is estimated at $510,000.
