WINFIELD, Kan. (AP) _ Justin Thurber has been bound over for trial in the January slaying of Cowley County College student Jodi Sanderholm.
Thurber's preliminary hearing in Winfield wrapped up late Thursday morning after nearly a day-and-a-half of testimony. Thurber is charged with capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy in Sanderholm's death.
Thurber's ex-girlfriend testified Thursday he would grab her hair and choke her while they were having sex. Alexa Swertzell said she ended their three-year relationship on December 30th, just five days before Sanderholm disappeared.
Sanderholm's body was found January 9th near Arkansas City.
Swertzell said that the two of them once went parking in the wildlife area where Sanderholm's body was found. She testified that Thurber remarked "how easy it would be to get rid of somebody'' there.
Attorney General Paul Morrison is trying the case.
