Police Seek Sexual Assault Suspect

Not long after midnight Wednesday morning, Topeka Police were called out to to the 900 block of NW Van Buren to a reported home invasion. Arriving on the scene, the officers found beaten and sexually assaulted.

The 46 year-old woman was rushed taken the hospital with life threatening injuries. Her name is not yet being released while police investigate the crime.

The victim's car, a 1996 maroon, 2-door Buick Skylark with handicapped tags # 56373, was missing; officers believe it may have been been stolen by the suspect. Police describe him as a 5'6" homeless, black man, weighing about 170 lbs.

The Topeka Police Department is asking for help finding this car. Anyone seeing it is asked to call 911 immediately!

Officers consider the suspect dangerous and warn against trying to apprehend the suspect yourself.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact Det. Tom Sipp at 368-9023 or CrimeStoppers at 234-0007, and they remind callers that all calls to CrimeStoppers will remain anonymous.
