John Orange says he was giving a stranger a ride Wednesday when the man, seated in the back seat of his vehicle, shot Orange in the back, firing through the driver's seat. It happened about 2:15 p.m. in the 2900 block of SW Twilight, in Topeka.
The 52 year-old Topeka man said he wasn't sure where the gunman wanted to go, other than it was somewhere on 21st St., near where he was shot.
Orange was taken to a local hospital with what Police say were non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a black man in his 20's, 5'6", 170 lbs. who was wearing a white shirt, baggy blue pants, and a white baseball cap. He fled on foot after the shooting.
Police are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information to call detectives at 368-9400 or Crime Stoppers at 234-0007.
