Two Overnight Fires in Shawnee Co. Appear Intentional: Firefighters

Firefighters for Silver Lake were called out of bed for two overnight fires. The first one happened just west of 46th and Huxman Rd. at about midnight when a vacant building caught fire. Firefighters say it had burnt to the ground by the time they arrived.

Then just after 2:30 a.m. this morning, they responded to another fire at 1824 NW Humphrey Rd. It was engulfed in flames and since firefighters knew the house was abandoned, they decided to let it burn rather than risk firefighters lives.

Firefighters believe both fires may have been intentionally set. If you have any information, contact the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office at 368-2200.
