Firefighters and police responded to an fire late Monday at 3339 SE Irvingham. Topeka Police say two officers on helicopter patrol noticed an explosion in the garage area around 11:20 p.m. Monday night.
Fire crews found the house fully engulfed in flames, but were able to put out the fire in about ninety minutes.
Police say no one was home at the time of the fire, but the Red Cross provided assistance to a mother and daughter who were away from home visiting friends.
The Topeka Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
