One woman drowned Sunday when the car in which she was riding drove into Pottawatomie State Lake #1.
Just after three o'clock, twenty-three year-old Kelly Johnson of Wamego was in a Ford car driven by 34 year-old Alexander Bench heading south on K-99 near Lake #1when Mr. Bench tried to make a U-turn onto a private drive.
He lost control of the car and drove it into the lake. Mr. Bench managed to escape, but Ms. Johnson could not.
