Two men were arrested overnight Wednesday night in connection to a robbery that occurred just before midnight at the the Kwik Shop at 2277 SW 10th St. in Topeka.
Soon after the robbery was reported the TPD helicopter, which was in the area at the time, was dispatched. Two officers heading south on Topeka Blvd. and about to turn right onto 10th spotted a red Ford Escort that matched the description of an attempted robbery earlier that evening.
The officers stopped the car in a Wendy's parking lot, where they found an air-soft pistol, which was used in the robbery, the money and cigarettes taken from the Shop, and a flannel jacket and the bandannas that matched the one the clerk had described the suspects as wearing. One suspect was also wearing the brand of shoes, Adidas, that had were described.
Police arrested 29 year-old Jamie Mader of Topeka and Robert Finley, 28, of Topeka on two counts of aggrevated robbery and one count of aggrevated assault.
The attempted robbery earlier Thursday night happened around 11:10 p.m. at the Phillips 66 at 2525 SW 29th. After the attendent had already locked the door a man came to the door and pointed a gun at the clerk and owner of the store.
When the suspect could not get into the station the suspect fled on foot. Station cameras caught the station entering and leaving in a red Ford Escort coupe.
