Boy, 5, Dies When Dad's Car Hit by Semi

LIBERAL, Kan. (AP) _ A five-year-old southwest Kansas boy is dead after his father's car was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler north of Liberal.

The highway patrol says Diego Hernandez of Rolla was killed yesterday afternoon when the northbound truck hit his family's car as it sat in the left turn lane of U-S 83 at K-51. The boy's father and three-year-old sister were injured and his mother escaped injury.

The truck driver was also injured.
