TOPEKA – The afternoon will be alive with the big band sounds of the Kings of Swing this Sunday, September 27th from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the park-like setting at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery & Mausoleum at Sixth and Gage, the Cemetery with the Ducks.
Bring your lawn chairs and spend a relaxing afternoon enjoying the music of the Kings of Swing, Topeka’s own 15-piece big band as they play hits from the Golden Age of Swing. The concert is sponsored by Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery and is free and open to the public.
“We want to put together a free event for individuals and families that will celebrate all the good things that life has to offer: beautiful surroundings, fantastic fall weather and great music,” said Ren Newcomer, owner of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Homes, Crematory and Cemetery. “This is our first concert event planned for the cemetery and we are working on others, including a spring concert in 2010,” he said.
