28th Annual Minortiy And Women Business Awards

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW)-- Business leaders gathered Tuesday to honor their own at the 28th Annual Minority and Women Business Awards.

The event recognized 13 companies and six individuals for their support of Kansas minority and women-owned businesses and their efforts toward creating opportunities.

This years awardees for Women-Owned Businesses of the Year were: Tenoch Contruction, Inc, S and Y Industries, Earles Engineering & Inspection, Inc, Bling, Inc, Hays Academy of Hair Design and American Energy Products, Inc.

The Women Business Advocate Award went to Jene' Popper Hong of Barton Nelson, Inc.

The Business Advocate Award went to Patsy Stuke of American Odage Consulting, Inc.

The Entrepreneur Award went to Curtis Smart, Kaleb Berry, Kenan Meadows, and Joseph Belcher, Jr. all from www.kcteenlink.org.

Corporation of the Year Award went to Kansas Entertainment, LLC.

Minority Owned Businesses of the Year Award went to Oliver Construction, Forever Yours Glass Etchings, FSC, Inc, Signs By Tomorrow/The Corona Group, Inc, Athena Communications, and Technology Group Solutions.

Minority Small Business Person of the Year Award went to Paul M. Gunzelman Management Group, Inc.

This years luncheon coincides with Kansas Minority Enterprise Development Week, the Department's annual celebration of Kansas' minority and women entrepreneurs.
