It was back to school for many area kids Wednesday. Students stepped off the bus for a new school year at Wanamaker Elementary in the Auburn-Washburn school district. Kids from Topeka's USD 501 also headed back to class Wednesday morning.
Jitters and excitement were both in the air for kids and teachers alike as they start a new year.
Tenth through twelfth grade students get an extra day of break and will start Thursday.
