Topeka High was on the look out for a replacement Spar after last year a lightning strike splintered the last one.

The USS Constitution donated one that had been on the ship for 25 years. This morning it took about two hours to safely lift and place the Spar in its place using a crane extended over 100 feet.

The Spar will be used as a flag pole as the last one was.
