TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) -- Christmas came a bit early for dozens of Topeka children on Thursday!

Twenty-five first and second-graders were given brand new bicycles, courtesy of the Boy and Girls Clubs of Topeka, in recognition of their achievements.

The bikes were assembled by 12 members of the organizations Leadership Exploration cohort.

And, what bike would be complete without a helmet? Topeka Police and Stormont Vail had them covered there (literally). The provided each kid was given a helmet and some safety instructions.

The event was held at the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas' corporate training center, the former Polk Elementary School.
