Memorial Day to Labor Day is camping season. Now one of Topeka's big R-V parks is a KOA campground.

Chamber ambassadors joined owners Charlie and Linda Reaser in cutting the ribbon on the campground Monday near 49th street and Burlingame Road.

Shane Ott, the president of the KOA chain, came to help with the festivities. Ott is a Topeka native and a graduate of Washburn Rural.

He says campgrounds are still a good option for families wanting to vacation during the tough economic times.

The KOA campground features three fishing ponds and a converted barn complete with a tv room and exercise equipment.
