AG: Kansas Need to Watch for Scams
Attorney General Steve Six says tragic events like last week's tornadoes show off Kansans' giving spirit, but creates opportunities for ripoff schemes and scam artists.

TOPEKA - Kansas' new attorney general says he appreciates how tornadoes like the ones causing major destruction in Chapman and Manhattan last week bring out the best in our citizens. But Steven Six says the devastation can also bring out the worst in some people. He's urging Kansas residents to be wary as those towns continue their cleanups.
His office staffers have seen the damage for themselves and provided information about potential scams to storm survivors. He says they'll be watching the situation very carefully during the rebuilding process, and will do everything they can from the AG's office to protect consumers and prevent scams, like construction work price gouging.
Six wants Kansans to be careful when they're hiring help to assist with the cleanup and rebuilding. If you believe a busines is acting improperly or if you have questions about possible scams, you're asked to call the AG's Consumer Protection Division at 1 (800) 432-2310.
