A crowd of law enforcement officers and Special Olympic participants gathered at the Kansas Capitol. Their mission was to light the Special Olympic torch and run it through the streets of Topeka. It's final destination is to be Wichita where this weekend the Kansas Special Olympics is to be held.

Mike Smoot is a participant of the Olympics. He has been a part of the games for more years than he can remember. Track and shotput events are what he participates in. He enjoys meeting friends while going for the gold medal.
