Senators Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts both voted for a 290 billion dollar farm bill, which passed on an 81-15 roll call in Washington Thursday. The Kansas Republicans say they are disappointed with cuts to direct payments and the crop insurance program. But they praised the bill's tax relief package for farmers and ranchers.

The Republicans representing Kansas in the Senate both have years of experience on agricultural issues, and agreed the cuts will harm the state's farmers.
