The second phase of the Topeka Takeover/ Makeover 208 is set to begin at 9:00 Saturday morning. People interested in helping should meet near the locomotive at the Kansas Expocentre a few minutes before 9am for the signup. Lunch will be provided at noon.
Volunteers are needed to prepare for the next city cleanup efforts in low to moderate income neighborhoods west of Topeka Boulevard. The Saturday makeover project will also stretch north of the Kansas River. Anybody wanted to pitch in and help should call 368-4470 Friday to register.
On April 26th, more services are being provided at no charge. They are Tire Amnesty Day.. where tires will be accepted between 7am and 6pm at Expert Tires, 3701 SW Topeka Blvd. (There's a donation limit of four tires per household.) Rolling Meadows Recycling and Disposal Facility will also be open April 26th from 7am till 1pm at no charge. The landfill is located at 7351 NW Highway 75 in Topeka.
