A potential cable blackout of WIBW-TV by Cox Cable has been delayed for a week, as negotiators report significant progress in their negotiations. Both sides were said to be far apart as Leap Day began, but Friday's progress led to a one-week extension of Cox Cable providing the signal from WIBW-TV in Northeast Kansas.

The deadline, which was 12:01 Saturday morning, March 1, is now officially 12:01am next Saturday morning, March 8th.

Negotiations will continue through the weekend. WIBW-TV is seeking compensation from Cox for the retransmission of its local over-the-air signal in a tighter broadcast market.
