Jim Hanna on Finances:

Get a free annual credit report.. check www.annualcreditreport.com or call (877) 322-8228.
Get specific. Target the excess spending in your budget, and make a commitment to cut it out.
Find new avenues of income. If you have professional skills, consider doing consulting work on the side.
Say "no" to more debt. Read the fine print on your credit card statements and you may be surprised by how much interest you're paying on revolving debt.
Embrace simplicity. Life in the fast lane is expensive. Rediscover inexpensive forms of fun. Have friends over for dinner or board games, take a walk, dust off your DVDs and have a movie night at home.
Get professional advice. Consult a financial advisor to find out what you can do to improve your finances going forward. Apply that advice and re-evaluate it at least once a year.
It all adds up. It takes dedication and a little discipline to regin in your spending and pay more attention to your money, but your efforts will be rewarded.
