Governor Kathleen Sebelius says she hopes Kansans can move past the sex scandal that forced Attorney General Paul Morrison out of office last week. She says she's focusing on finding a new attorney general to fill the remaining three years of Morrison's term. He'll step down January 31st.

Sebelius also said Friday that Morrison was a great public servant for nearly three decades, first as a prosecutor in Johnson County, then as attorney general for a year. She said his contributions to the state were significant.

But Republican Party Executive Director Christian Morgan said earlier this week it was time for Morrison, a former Republican, to leave office now. Morgan said the scandal isn't going away. In a related news story, Lt. Governor Mark Parkinson, who helped recruit Morrison to switch parties and run against Phill Kline, said he did not know about Morrison's extramarital affair until shortly before it became public.
