Governor Kathleen Sebelius is requesting a federal disaster declaration for the entire state of Kansas because of this week's ice storm. Sebelius declared a state of emergency disaster Monday in anticipation of the storm, which has plunged more than 115,00 Kansans into darkness. Additional power outages were tallied up last night and today from our colder temperatures and high winds. Freezing drizzle in East and Central Kansas layered more ice on trees and power lines.

Westar reports 70,000 of its 674,000 customers are still without power, and Kansas Electric Co-ops say nearly 30,000 of their customers have no electric service Wednesday.
