Nearly 9,000 cribs that were sold exclusively at Babies R Us were recalled early Thursday because bolts at the top corner may come loose, possibly trapping the baby or creating a strangulation hazard.
The recall comes after a 13 month-old child became trapped within the the railings of a Wendy Bellisimo Convertible Crib.
Anyone who purchased one of the recalled cribs (model numbers listed below), which was sold under the Bassettbaby name, should immediately stop using it, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Bassettbaby has received a total of 85 reports of bolts loosening.
The cribs were sold in Babies R Us stores between July 2005 and October 2007 for around $500.
To fix the problem, Bassettbaby is offering a free repair kit for the crib. by contactinf the company at (888) 897-4689 between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. CT daily or by visiting the company's Web site.
The cribs were produced for Bassettbaby by Goodbaby Child Products Ltd., of China.
