It only took hours for the jury to find Cheever's guilty in the murder of Greenwood County Sheriff Matt Samuels in January, 2205.

Samuels and two other officers were serving a search warrant at Cheever's residence when he was shot to death.

Jurors must now decide whether Cheever will receive the death penalty or life in prison without parole. The penalty phase in the case will start tomorrow.

Cheever also was found guilty of four counts of attempted
capital murder against two deputies and two state troopers,
manufacturing meth and criminal possession of a firearm.

Cheever admitted killing the Sheriff but testified that he was
high on methamphetamine at the time.
