Sheriff Richard Barta used flawless technique to pull away from the competition in the annual Shawnee County Celebrity Goat Milking Contest that benefits the United Way.
The Sheriff easily defeated defending champion and county commissioner Vic Miller. First time milker, commissioner Shelly Buhler, tied Miller in the event.
In the media division, 13's Rhiannon Ally lost a close contest to WIBW photojournalist Josh Mabry. Later inspection of news tape reveals that Mabry may have continued milking after the 60 second time period ended. There is no word on whether Ally will protest the results.
Shawnee County employees hope to beat the $48,000 they raised last year for the United Way.
