The first court date for a lawsuit challenging the state's new gambling law has been scheduled. The Pottawatomie Tribe wants to intervene in the suit filed by Attorney General Paul Morrison. They want the opportunity to speak their side of the issue. However, Morrison opposes other parties joining the suit.
He believes allowing other parties to intervene will make the suit confusing and could even delay a ruling.
Morrison says that although the law directed him to file the case don't expect him to go easy.
Morrison says they will be vigerously attacking the Constitutionality of the bill which allows the state to own a casino.
The hearing on the tribe's motion is set for October 11th at 1:30 p.m. in Shawnee District Court.
