TOPEKA PUBLIC LIBRARY -- Whether you are a self-described know-it-all or casual sports observer, Sports Trivia offers a fun way to use your brains to compete against the professionals. JB Bauersfield, WIBW-TV sports anchor, brings his team of local sports experts to challenge you in 10 rounds of questions covering various topics from the sports world.
Create the ultimate butt-kicking team and come to Sports Trivia Saturday, this weekend, August 14th, from 3:00 till 5:00 in the TSCPL Marvin Auditorium. Register by calling 785-580-4545 or stop by the Red Carpet desk inside the library. Teams may have up to eight participants.
Only one team can emerge the ultimate sports trivia champion. Experience matters, but the best teams have members of all ages so they know a lot of sports facts. Trivia teams will answer questions like “Do you know who won Wimbledon in 1963?” “What American has earned the most gold medals in Olympic completion?” and “In which sport do competitors use leather gloves, bells and hoods?”
Participation is free, so you have nothing to lose and you might win a prize or two! If you’re a sports fan that really knows your stuff, find some friends, form a team, and show us what you’ve got.
While you’re at the library, you can check out our collection of sports books and DVDs like When the Game Was Ours by Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, The Soul of Baseball: a Road Trip through Buck O’Neil’s America by Joe Posnanski. To study up for the competition you can check out Bill James Historical Baseball Abstract, or watch the DVD Rites of Autumn: The Story of College Football.
