Suspect Sought in Robbery of Four Elderly Women Save Email Print

Police say they have a new description of a man they say may be responsible for robbing four elderly women of their purses Friday night.

The robberies took place in a matter of two hours.

The suspect, armed with a knife, moved quickly along Gage and then disappeared before police could catch him.

The rash of robberies began at 10 o'clock at 2010 South East 29th street, a woman was threatened with a knife and robbed of her purse.

Nearly two hours passed and the same thing happened to a woman at 10th and Gage. Minutes later, a woman was threatened with a knife and robbed of her purse at 4133 south west Gage Center Drive, only 4 minutes later, the same thing happened to a woman at 1200 SW Gage.

In all, from 10 p.m. to midnight, four women were threatened and robbed by the same suspect description given each time.

It happened at about 11:30 Thursday at the Kwik Shop in the 5600 block of Southwest 21st Street. Authorities say a woman was approached outside the store, when the suspect ripped her purse off of her arm. The woman was not hurt. The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens, with a scruffy beard and mustache. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, a blue shirt, and blue jeans. He was last seen southbound on Bell driving a dark maroon car...possibly a newer model Pontiac Grand Prix. If you have any information you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 785-234-0007. SOUNDS LIKE THERE IS A SERIAL PURSE SNATCHE .
