TOPEKA, Kan. - It was one brother versus another in an attempted murder trial Shawnee County Court Friday.

Michael Hall took the stand to testify against brother Christopher Hall, 25.

Christopher was charged in August 2007 with one count of Aggravated Robbery, two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder - Intentional, and two counts of Aggravated Battery, in connection with a "home invasion" wherein he sought to rob Michael Delaney and Jennifer Hughes and beat them with hammers.

Friday a preliminary hearing was held before Judge Mark Braun. Following the presentation of evidence, Deputy District Attorney David Debenham moved to increase the charges and Judge Braun agreed.

Christopher was ordered to stand trial for one count of Aggravated Robbery, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder - increased from two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder - Intentional and Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Murder.

Christopher will be arraigned as soon as court documents can be prepared and filed setting forth the increased charges.

Christopher is also charged with First Degree Murder, Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a Child, and Desecration of a Body, all in connection with the murder of Nacole Winter, 15, and the burning of her body, which was found in a secluded area of Lake Shawnee.

During court proceedings Friday, Christopher Hall became verbally confrontational with Michael and needed to be restrained.

Shawnee County District Attorney Robert Hecht said, one of the observations of court watchers was the recognition of the support by Ms. Winters' family of Mr. Delaney and Ms. Hughes by their attendance.
